Event Description

You’ve watched the film. You've bought the album and you've danced at the screenings. Now, 40 years on from its original release, Playback bring you a live re-enactment of Talking Heads’ classic concert film Stop Making Sense. Floor lamp? Check. Big suit? Check. A tape they’d like to play? Check. Come, watch and dance the night away as the band blasts through classics like “Psycho Killer”, “Once in a Lifetime”, “Burning Down the House” and “This Must Be the Place”. After the last chord of "Crosseyed and Painless" has faded away, stay for encores selected from among Talking Heads' greatest hits. There's truly something for everyone! Playback is an "album tribute" band. They cover classic albums in their entirety, then round out their sets with a selection of the artist's greatest hits. So far their repertoire includes Bob Dylan's Highway 61 Revisited and Blonde on Blonde, David Bowie's mid-'70s classics Aladdin Sane, Young Americans and Diamond Dogs, and Talking Heads’ Stop Making Sense. They've taken their "Still Don't Make No Sense: The Music of Stop Making Sense" show all over the country, from Wicklow to Kildare to Kilkenny to Galway; have headlined several Dublin Bowie Festival shows; have performed to packed audiences at All Together Now; and have appeared in venues such as the Sugar Club, Opium and the reopened Ambassador Theatre. Patrons Note: This is a standing concert. Some seats are available in the balcony.
