Memories of Thurles People and Places by Donal Sammon
Event Description
To mark the 100th anniversary of his birth, the Sammon family in association with Thurles Library is presenting an exhibition of photographs taken by the late Donal Sammon. Donal captured many images of Thurles from the 1960s to the early 2000s. The exhibition portrays a changing townscape and the people who have lived and worked there and includes a selection of family photos. This personal archive gathers images of Liberty Square, Friar Street, Slievenamon Road, Ladyswell, Thurles Golf Club and Semple Stadium. Also on display are unique items relating to Donal’s pharmacy located in the landmark building, Devlin’s Medical Hall on Liberty Square. The exhibition runs for the month of February during normal library opening hours.
