In this workshop, children will develop their creativity while exploring the history of animation through creating and building their own thaumatrope. What is a thaumatrope? Thaumatropes were popular toys in the 19th century and one of the first forms of animation. Each child will design and create their own thaumatrope. The participants will engage in hands-on activities through which they will “learn by-doing" by exploring the art, history and technology of animation. Children will also be introduced to different artistic techniques, e.g. the art of storytelling. Materials needed: paper, markers, crayons and pencils
